I was asked to give some advice about creating or improving One World Website, so here I am.
Ok, first thing to notice, our target audience are students, that rush trough things when searching for anything, unluckily One World Site has many (way too many) folders of subjects, why not put everything in one folder, it would be quicker and handier when searching or just reading.
But how to put so much info? No one likes writing (apart from me), I would advise to settle One and main One World Page, which will include:
Fancy writing title, huge enough, enter aligin.
A picture, of world I guess
Quick short info about the strand, nothing too complex 3 lines max.
Then using column method (tools section), separate page into chunks, each chunk will have short info about subject e.g RE or German.
Add picture of subject like e.g flag (keep it small) above each chunk subject info.
Then, write concluding words such as One World is important strand (blah blah blah) introduce strand leaders and teachers and at the end paste some One World Typed Film from YT, dunno maybe Alphabet in French? Get the idea.
So, yes, to make a good One World you need to minimise things, keep them simple and on one page only, here is my idea of setting out one page:
-Title
-Intro
-Column 1: Geography 2: RE 3: German
-Column 4: French (5,6 other subjects)
-Conclusion
-Staff
-Video
It would be nice to settle it out like this, so tidy and easy to access.
If you want to put more info, feel free, Use HyperLink to detailed pages (but it is pretty hard to explain process).
Make it look colourful and professional, not too goofy, if possible, make it symmetric and organised, as for audience, make some interactives that will keep them on topic,
Centre aligin amything, it just looks more professional.
Well, it's hard to describe how to settle out a website, but hope I gave you a little lift. And please, there's way too much subject pages on One Workd Section, keep it simple...
Hope I've helped!
