Introduction To Computing & Business
The Computing & Business Faculty is the area of the academy where students are provided with the opportunity to really develop their technological understanding and skills, as well as learning about enterprise and real business in the world that lies beyond education. The team strives to provide students with the chance to embed their interests and knowledge around technology and to gain the skills and qualifications that give them the best opportunities in our digital age. We are in a great position to do this due to the use of 1-to-1 iPads as well as our suite of fully equipped iMacs that mean students get to put the theory in to practice on the most relevant and up-to-date systems. The facilities and equipment are another tool in ensuring our teaching and courses are delivered in a creative and imaginative way to engage students and build a natural curiosity in the high-tech items we use everyday and how they work, can be best used and could be improved. In addition, the focus on business enables our young people to consider how, even now, they are affected by the companies that operate in the local, national and global economy and to benefit from an understanding of this so that they are set up to succeed in any of the wide range of possibilities that exist in our increasingly inter-connected world. In an effort to develop those links, we take every opportunity to join up students’ academic knowledge with what goes on outside Essa through expert visitors and trips to exciting and relevant events and businesses. We are passionate about our subjects and aim to create this within our students too so that they are best able to thrive with the in-demand knowledge and skills we provide.
