Learning Without Frontiers

Picture
I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the Learning Without Frontiers event that
myself and Mr Badat attended on Wednesday 25th and 26th January in London.

To put it in a nutshell the Learning Without Frontiers conference was held at
London’s Olympia where a unique environment was created with blow up
igloos and a theater. Some of the worlds most respected thought leaders from
the education, digital media and entertainment sectors presented compelling
explorations into the future of learning.

During the day on Wednesday, Mr Badat took part in a panel discussion and then
presented to a large number of people who had nothing but admiration for all the
hard work that our staff are doing to help transform the lives of our students.
I wish I could have recorded some of the comments that people were making.
All your hard work, day in, day out isn’t just changing the lives of the students
you teach, it’s inspiring other schools to take a risk and dive straight in at the
deep end to transform their teaching and learning.

We also attended the LWF Awards presentation brought to us by NESTA and
presented by Dallas Campbell, the presenter of BBC’s Bang Goes the Theory.

Mr Badat had been nominated for the Special Achievement Award. In the opinion
of the judges and community, this award represented a person or organization
that has made a significant contribution during 2011 to support improved
learning using mobile, gaming, social or other emerging technologies.

It was a great surprise when they read out
Mr Badats name for the winner of the award.
I felt honored to have witnessed the huge
roar in the audience when they announced
his name. What a great way to round off
a brilliant day that will be treasured by
everyone involved.

Mr Badat presented again on the Thursday before we had to get the train home.

Overall the two day event was brilliant. We have spoken to people from all around
the world and Essa’s name certainly has gone global. You should be proud of the
work that you do as it isn’t going unnoticed.

We are going to have floods of visitors over the next few months and I hope that
you will enjoy just as much as I did discussing our Essa journey and listening
to the support we have outside and around the world.

Thank you
Miss Denness
