The Mathematics department is dedicated to enabling all pupils to achieve their maximum potential. Classes are taught by a dedicated Mathematics teacher.
All year 7 are taught once a week. They are working on project based learning mainly working on shape and space!
Pupils then start the AQA unit courses. They all start studying for unit 2 foundation which is number and algebra. This is examined in March or June.
This can lead onto either: Moving onto the next unit which is unit 1 Or Doing the same unit but at higher
THEY WILL NOT BE ENTERED UNLESS THEIR TEACHER FEELS THEY ARE READY
In years ten and eleven pupils who have achieved a grade C or above in the module exams have been given the chance to improve their grade by sitting the new edexcel higher linear exam in June.
If they have not achieved a grade C (or achieved their grade C in the linear exam in June 2011) they have been entered, depending on their ability, for either: Foundation linear with edexcel Or Higher linear with edexcel.
Results
The percentage of pupils achieving grade C or above in Mathematics has increased each year since 2008
