Essa Academy Mathematics Department

Picture
The Mathematics department is dedicated to enabling all pupils to achieve their maximum potential.
Classes are taught by a dedicated Mathematics teacher.

All year 7 are taught once a week. They are working on project based learning mainly working on shape and space!

Pupils then start the AQA unit courses. They all start studying for unit 2 foundation which is number and algebra. This is examined in March or June.

This can lead onto either:
Moving onto the next unit which is unit 1
Or
Doing the same unit but at higher

THEY WILL NOT BE ENTERED UNLESS THEIR TEACHER FEELS THEY ARE READY

In years ten and eleven pupils who have achieved a grade C or above in the module exams have been given the chance to improve their grade by sitting the new edexcel higher linear exam in June.

If they have not achieved a grade C (or achieved their grade C in the linear exam in June 2011) they have been entered, depending on their ability, for either:
Foundation linear with edexcel
Or
Higher linear with edexcel.
