Essa Mathematics Department
The Mathematics department is dedicated to enabling all pupils to achieve their maximum potential.
Classes are taught by a dedicated Mathematics teacher.
All year 7 are taught once a week. They will work on a project called 4words, which links with work, in the English department.
After this they choose a learning journey that will take them through to certification. The learning journey is staged at different levels, which pupils can move through. Some of the learning journeys that can be taken are Boxes, Disaster relief, MP3 players and work on Bowland math projects.
Pupils sit either AQA unit exams or Edexcel linear exams for certification. Though if pupils have not already started on the Unit exam journey they will not start as the last sitting is November 2013.
After a pupil has reached a minimum of a Grade C they will either work on boosting their grade or if judged able enter the 'Dark Arts.'
