Today our students set off on their journey to Bad Harzburg, Germany. Here they will be taking part in the 'Youth in Action Chaotic Circus' event, which brings together young people from across Europe to work together to produce a spectacular circus event. This year, young people from England, Germany and Estonia will be learning new skills in juggling, poi swinging and clownery, to name but a few!
We will keep you posted on our progress and hopefully on our return, we will be able to demonstrate our new skills!
This is it, in 17 days time I will be en route to Shanghai, China to begin a three week intensive Chinese language and culture course, having never learnt any Chinese before. It's going to be an amazing experience but the reality of the mammoth task ahead is starting to sink in. The timetable of the course was sent last week; between 3-6 hours of Mandarin Chinese lessons a day, starting at 8:30am. There was me thinking this would be a nice sightseeing break with a smattering of Chinese lessons! Hopefully my linguistic ability will allow me to become familiar enough with the language in the short three weeks I am there to begin teaching some pupils Mandarin next academic year!
Any words of wisdom, greatly appreciated!
