Local Governing Body
Essa Academy is part of the Essa Foundation Academies Trust and the Local Governing Body’s role is to: set the direction for the Academy; monitor and evaluate its performance; act as a critical friend and hold leaders to account for the pace and rate of improvement and the achievement of all pupils; ensure compliance with all financial, statutory and regulatory requirements; and help the Academy respond to, and meet the needs of, parents and the wider local community.

Our Local Governors:
Nicholas Ford CHAIR OF LGB
Headteacher at Bolton School, an independent school in Bolton. He has over 20 years teaching and senior leadership experience in state schools. Nicholas is the Chair of the Local Governing body and a Sponsor Governor. Contact: nlf@boltonschool.org
Paul Davidson VICE CHAIR OF LGB
Teacher of Russian and French at Bolton School Boys Division, an independent school in Bolton. He is Head of Russian and Head of modern foreign languages and has lived and worked in Japan, Russia, and France. Paul is the Vice Chair of the Local Governing body and a Sponsor Governor.
Martin Knowles
Principal of Essa Academy. He is also a Staff Local Governor.

Parent Local Governor. Sakil is a local Bolton Entrepreneur. He is a shareholder of three companies. He is Vice Chairman of a registered UK charity. He also volunteers at a numbers of charities for example feed the homeless and supporting old age peoples homes.
