Local Governing Body

 

Essa Academy is part of the Essa Foundation Academies Trust and the Local Governing Body’s role is to: set the direction for the Academy; monitor and evaluate its performance; act as a critical friend and hold leaders to account for the pace and rate of improvement and the achievement of all pupils; ensure compliance with all financial, statutory and regulatory requirements; and help the Academy respond to, and meet the needs of, parents and the wider local community.

Our Local Governors:

 

Nicholas Ford is deputy head at Bolton School, an independent school in Bolton. He has over 20 years teaching and senior leadership experience in state schools.  Nicholas is the Chair of the Local Governing body. Contact: nlf@boltonschool.org


Martin Knowles is the Principal of Essa Academy. He is also a Governor.

Ivan Wadeson has 25 years experience working in the arts sector in a range of management and leadership roles. He has served on charity boards previously as a Trustee and is keen to bring his passion, beliefs and experience to support Essa Academy.

Paul Davidson is a teacher of Russian and French at Bolton School Boys Division, an independent school in Bolton. He is Head of Russian and Head of modern foreign languages and has lived and worked in Japan, Russia, and France.

Wasim Raja is a local businessman in the community and takes part in charity events, in particular, fundraising for cancer patients.

Farook Atcha is a Project Officer working with local businesses for Bolton Council.  He is also a qualified Youth and Community worker.

Masud Kala is a qualified accountant and currently works at Bolton Hospice as the Director of Finance. He has also worked in industry, audit and the NHS.

Jordan Turner is a staff governor. He is deputy faculty leader of science.

Fatima Jayne Harris is a parent governor. She has one child at the Academy.
