Covid 19 Information
Thank you for visiting this section of our website regarding our procedures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Students will be accessing remote education from home through Essa Live and Microsoft Teams. As of Monday 11th January all lessons will be live (delivered by teachers via Teams at the allocated timetable slot on each student's timetable).
Free School Meals
From week commencing 18th January, Essa Academy will be issuing parents of children who receive free school meals with a £60 voucher for Asda. This £60 voucher will be for four weeks worth of free school meals (until February half term).
As a change from our previous system this voucher will be sent to the parent / carer email address, NOT to the student account. Therefore if this applies to you, you will receive this voucher at some point next week directly to your email inbox.
Critical Workers and Vulnerable Students
The Academy remains open for children of critical workers and vulnerable children. Please see link below for guidance as to what these categories mean. If you believe your child falls into one of these categories and hasn't yet been contacted, please email
Please note that this guidance is subject to change and all changes will be updated here as soon as possible.
Please read the below letter from Martin Knowles, Principal:
Update: 8th January 2021
Following recent government guidance and the announcement of the new national lockdown from Monday 4th January 2021, our school site is currently closed to all students with the exception of critical worker and other identified students (see more information on this below). Whilst the government have currently stated an anticipated return-to-school date of post-February half term, this is yet to be confirmed and we will continue to monitor this and update you in due course.
